Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni had a playful take on their tense two-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Wednesday, May 7, at Eden Gardens. He praised the batting unit for their positive intent and ability to adapt to the match situation.
While CSK are already out of playoff contention, the win delivered a significant blow to KKR’s chances. The Knight Riders had CSK in trouble at 60/5, but the five-time champions staged a comeback and sealed the victory with two balls remaining.
#MSDhoni did what he does best took it deep, held his nerve, and led his team to victory. 💛

When asked about his emotions during the post-match presentation, Dhoni humorously remarked that it was only their third win of the tournament. The seasoned cricketer expressed satisfaction with the promising talent in the squad and the remaining games that offer a chance to evaluate them.
As quoted by ESPN Cricinfo, MS Dhoni said:
“This is just the third game we have won (laughs). There were a few things that did not go our way. You could get emotional about it, talk about the pride factor but you have to be practical about it, just concentrating about where the 25 players could fit.”
“We want to be competitive and find the right fit for each player based on conditions. Early on, no one was scoring, but it’s great to see the batters showing intent. It’s crucial to back yourself and play your natural shots. These players are part of our squad, and we have the chance to test them.”
“Many of them aren’t sure when my last game will be” – MS Dhoni
When discussing his potential participation next year, the 43-year-old mentioned that he hasn’t yet determined when his final IPL season will be. He noted that he will take some time to reassess his decision after the current season. Dhoni said:
“That is the love and affection I have gotten throughout. Not to forget I am 42 – I have played a long time. A lot of them don’t know when it is going to be my last time. After this IPL gets over, I have to work hard for another 6-8 months to see if my body can take this pressure. Nothing to decide now but the love and affection I have seen is excellent.”
