Dhawal Kulkarni, who has played for 12 ODIs and two T20 internationals for India, recently said that he dreamt of playing for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2020 final against Kings XI Punjab. Notably, Mumbai snapped the experienced pacer in the auctions this time around.
Meanwhile, Kulkarni has been a regular feature in the IPL and has taken 86 wickets in 90 IPL matches with a fine strike rate of 20.26. The Mumbai medium pacer began his IPL journey with Mumbai Indians and played for them from 2008-2013. He has taken 36 wickets in 33 IPL matches for Mumbai and is ninth in the list of leading wicket-takers for the franchise.
Dhawal Kulkarni reveals his dream
Dhawal Kulkarni was again picked by Mumbai in 2019 after being traded by Rajasthan Royals. He has also plied his trade for the now-defunct Gujarat Lions. The pacer recently revealed that he dreamt of defending the IPL title for Mumbai Indians against Kings XI Punjab. He also revealed that the tournament was not taking place in India.
“The last dream I got was I playing an IPL final this year and the tournament wasn’t happening in India, it was happening somewhere in South Africa or Australia. We(MI) won the final,” the Mumbai paceman said in a recent Live Instagram chat with Crictracker.
However, BCCI has indefinitely postponed IPL 2020 given the COVID-19 outbreak. As per schedule, we would have found the winner of the 13th edition of the tournament. Although BCCI is looking at all possible windows available to conduct this year’s IPL as the fate of the T20 World Cup hangs by the wire.
If the current situation in India does not get better, then BCCI may also explore the option of conducting this year’s IPL abroad. So who knows Dhawal Kulkarni’s dream might turn into reality.
