Dinesh Karthik was among the many Indian players who vaccinated themselves and urged the countrymen to take the vaccine as well. After getting vaccinated on May 11, he took to Twitter and let his fans know the fact that he has got himself vaccinated. Other cricketers like Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, Shikhar Dhawan, Smriti Mandhana amongst others also got themselves vaccinated.
Dinesh Karthik shared a post on his official Twitter account which said “vaccinated”. In the meantime, Chris Lynn, the Australian cricketer, poked fun at Karthik. Karthik was a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders bio-security bubble where the first case of COVID-19 was reported in the Indian Premier League. As many as four cricketers- Varun Chakravarthy, Sandeep Warrier, Tim Seifert and Prasidh Krishna- from KKR tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

“Could have at least worn pants” wrote Chris Lynn who played just one match for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2021. Karthik also had a hilarious reply in store. “I was thinking shorts like you, then realised I’m not in Maldives. So wore this.” Chris Lynn played under Dinesh Karthik’s leadership for KKR in 2018 and 2019 before the franchise released the Australian batsmen ahead of IPL 2020.

KKR might well look to buy back Chris Lynn in the IPL 2022 mega auctions. He can solve the team’s opening woes with Shubman Gill not in the best of form. Lynn is expected to be released by Mumbai Indians who have their opening pair sorted with Quinton De Kock and Rohit Sharma. KKR thus have a good chance to buy back Lynn who has scored over 1000 runs for the side.
Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik had another ordinary season with KKR i the first half of IPL 2021. In seven games, Karthik managed 123 runs at an average and strike rate of 30.75 and 138.20 respectively. With reports of England players unlikely to come back for the second half of IPL 2021, Karthik might regain his captaincy for the side in the latter half of the tournament.
