Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh slammed former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Najam Sethi for his recent tweet taking a jibe at the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and BCCI secretary Jay Shah for the ongoing weather issues at venues in Asia Cup 2023. Sethi questioned whether India is afraid of playing and losing to arch-rivals Pakistan in the ongoing tournament.

The Asia Cup 2023 has had to deal with unfavourable weather conditions so far in Pallekele. The remaining matches of the tournament have been shifted to Colombo, however, the weather forecast doesn’t look promising. Najam Sethi took a dig at BCCI secretary Jay Shah for India’s reluctance to play in Pakistan. The Asia Cup was originally scheduled to be played in Pakistan. However, due to India’s reluctance, the majority of the games were shifted to Sri Lanka.

“BCCI/ACC informed PCB today that they had decided to shift the next India-Pak match from Colombo to Hambantota because of rain forecasts. Within one hour they changed their mind and announced Colombo as the venue. What’s going on? Is India afraid to play and lose to Pakistan Look at the rain forecast!,” Najam Sethi tweeted.

Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh reacted to Najam Sethi’s Tweet. Speaking on Sports Today, he said,

“Don’t know what Najam Sethi is smoking nowadays. I don’t how he is saying that they were the favourites or India does not want to play Pakistan.”

This is baseless kind of thing: Harbhajan Singh slams Najam Sethi’s tweet

Legendary cricketer Harbhajan Singh further expressed that Najam Sethi’s statement is baseless. He added that Team India is never scared to play anyone. He also challenged Sethi and said India will beat Pakistan regardless of the venue. Harbhajan Singh said,

“Please someone give him the whole record where India has beaten them more number of times whenever they have played against each other. This is a baseless kind of thing for him, with the kind of stature that he holds at this moment for Pakistan cricket. He says India does not want to play Pakistan because India is scared. India is never scared to play anyone. Don’t know where this is coming from. They needed to sit with the Asian Cricket Council and see where the tournament was going to be held.”

“Whether the weather forecast was right or not. Boss, come and play us wherever you want, we will beat you,” he added.
