Durban’s Super Giants Announce Quinton de Kock As Their Captain

Durban’s Super Giants have announced Quinton de Kock as their captain for the upcoming inaugural edition of the SA20 league. De Kock was one of the players that were originally signed by the franchise.

They shared this news via their social media account. The post said, “Aye, Aye Captain! #SuperFam, Quinton de Kock is all set to don the captaincy. Hit (heart emoji) if you are eXXcited to see him lead our ship.

Durban’s Super Giants skipper Quinton de Kock was elated with the new responsibility and admitted that he is looking forward to the unexpected.

“Pretty much it’s a new tournament, so, I guess looking forward to the unexpected, we’ve had a couple of these tournaments, and there hasn’t been one in a while. A lot of youngsters who haven’t been part of the big tournament will be involved in this, so it will be good for the new guys and obviously for the guys who’ve been around in serving cricket.

“This is also new for us, so, this would be amazing another new comp, so I can’t wait,” said de Kock, speaking in an interview with the SA20 League.

The Durban’s Super Giants is owned by the RPSG group who even owns the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL). De Kock represents LSG in the IPL after being bought in the auction last year. He has been retained by the team for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. He was an integral part of the franchise in their journey to the playoffs.

SA20 is all set to get underway on January 10

The SA20 is all set to begin on January 10 th and will be played till February 11th with a break in between to accommodate the England vs South Africa ODI series. This league follows a double round-robin format with two semi-final fixtures followed by the finals.

The six teams are all owned by IPL franchise owners. This league will give young Proteas talent a platform to perform with international cricketers.
