ENG vs IND 2021: Deep Dasgupta Makes Interesting Observation On Mohammed Siraj

Deep Dasgupta on Team India

Mohammed Siraj was the most successful bowler on day three of the Lord’s Test. He picked up four wickets as England were bowled out for 391 gaining a 27-run lead. Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami picked five wickets between themselves. On day 4, India would look to get past the lead and put on a formidable total to defend it on the final day. Meanwhile, Deep Dasgupta has made an interesting comment on Siraj after his fiery spell on day 3.

Dasgupta said that Mohammed Siraj is the bowling equivalent to Rishabh Pant. He dismissed Dom Sibley and Haseeb Hameed off consecutive deliveries and also picked up the wickets of Jonny Bairstow and Ollie Robinson. The former wicket-keeper batsman hailed Siraj’s attacking mindset that he brings to the Indian team.

“Mohammed Siraj was standout. The thing I like about Siraj is that he, asccording to me, is the bowling avataar of Rishabh Pant. He has an attacking mindset like Pant,” Deep Dasgupta stated.

India Needs To Be Patient With Mohammed Siraj: Deep Dasgupta

He further said that the Indian think tank needs to be patient with Siraj. His reaction to close calls made Virat Kohli waste two reviews purely taken on intuition rather than being completely sure about it.

“There will be days or spells where he might leak runs. But as I say for Rishabh Pant that you need to be patient with him, same applies to Mohammed Siraj. Even if he gives away runs, there is a need to be patient because his attacking mindset is his speciality. There might be days or spells where he would frustrate you but you will need to stay patient and encourage him,” Dasgupta concluded.

India have won just two Test matches at Lord’s. The last came way back in 2014. The match is well poised for India to end up on the winning side. Dasgupta asserted that Joe Root stands between India and victory in the remaining two days.
