ENG vs IND 2021: India Dig Up A Hole For Themselves – Ramiz Raja

Inzamam-Ul-Haq Virat Kohli-India

Former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja expressed his disappointment over the performance of the Indian team against England on day one of the third Test at Headingley, Leeds. Electing to bat first, India was bowled out for a paltry 78 runs. KL Rahul got out in the very first over of the innings off James Anderson.

The English pacer was in a great rhythm as he also dismissed Cheteshwar Pujara and Indian Skipper Virat Kohli in quick succession. None of the Indian batsmen except for Rohit Sharma should application at the crease. The opener was the top scorer in the innings with 19 runs.

In a video uploaded on Ramiz Raja’s Youtube Channel, he asserted that Cricket is a great leveler and one has to think and decide wisely. He said:

“Who would have thought that after winning the Lord’s test match comprehensively, India would dig a hole for themselves at Headingley? Cricket is a great leveler and you cannot take it for granted because the game is full of surprises. If you don’t respect the game and take decisions wisely, then you will get into trouble.”

India read the pitch wrong – Ramiz Raja

Ramiz Raja also lashed out at the Indian think tank for misreading the pitch. He feels that India erred at the toss and should have selected to bowl first on this wicket. Ramiz said,

“The role of the think tank is to read the pitch well and pass on the right information to the captain to make his job easier. Their job is also to tell the captain what to do after winning the toss.”

At the end of day one, England is leading by 42 runs. They have put on 120 runs on the board at no loss. Rory Burns and Haseeb Hameed, who looked in complete control of the proceedings on day 1, also took control in the morning session of day 2 as India go hard in search of wickets.
