ENG vs IND 2021: India Gave Some Easy Gifts To Joe Root Early On – Maninder Singh Criticizes Indian Bowlers

Joe Root

Former India cricketer Maninder Singh has criticized the Indian bowlers for their performance against England in the third test match on Thursday.

The Indian bowlers conceded over 300 runs on day two, as England’s lead went past 340 runs. Joe Root slammed another century, scoring 121 runs off 165 balls, including fourteen boundaries. England is 423 for eight down at the end of the play on day two.

Maninder Singh praised the England skipper for his brilliant knock. He also pointed out that the Indian bowlers bowled a few easy deliveries at him initially, which allowed him to get set.

“Root had scored centuries in the first two Tests and had walked out to bat with the same confidence. But in the beginning, he got a few easy deliveries to get set. When such players are in the groove, the bowlers have to bowl to their strengths. The Indian bowlers also helped a bit, by giving some easy gifts to Root so he had no problems in building his innings,” said Maninder Singh to Espncricinfo.

Ishant Sharma was looking woefully out of form: Maninder Singh

Ishant Sharma has bowled 22 overs and has given away 92 runs at an economy rate of 4.2, with no wickets to his name in this innings, so far. Maninder Singh opined that the pacer did not look in good form and perhaps has a niggle or is low on confidence in this series.

“Ishant Sharma was looking woefully out of form. At Lord’s, he did get wickets because of his experience, but there too he looked out of rhythm. The fire isn’t visible for a bowler, especially in such conditions. Either he has a lack of confidence or there is a niggle that is troubling him,” said Maninder Sharma.
