Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer feels India is most likely to dominate the remaining three test matches in the series against England. The comments came after India won the Lord’s test match on Monday by a margin of 151 runs. After setting a target of 271 runs for England in the fourth innings, the Indian pacers kept taking wickets at regular intervals. They bowled England out for 120 runs, to go one up in the five-match test series.
In a video uploaded on Wasim Jaffer’s Youtube channel, he pointed out that England relies heavily on their skipper, Joe Root. He added that they are likely to go down in this series. Jaffer said:
“England will have to recover really quickly now and sort out their batting more than the bowling. They rely heavily on Joe Root and someone else needs to step up and do so quickly otherwise they look like they’ll go down. India haven’t won a Test series (in England) for a while but it looks very likely that this Indian team is going to dominate the next Test and probably even further in this series.”
Hats off to this Indian side, they have been outstanding: Wasim Jaffer
Wasim Jaffer hailed the Indian team for making a spirited comeback after having their backs against the wall. India lost early wickets in the second innings and was reeling at 55 for three down.
Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane’s partnership got them back in the game. After which, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami took the attack to the opposition. They put together 89 runs to shift the momentum of the match in their favor.
“Hats off to this Indian side because they have been doing this for a while now. It was the same during the Australian tour, they had their backs against the wall, not in one but many Test matches and they proved that they don’t give up. They played exactly like this even in India against England after being one-nil down to win the series 3-1. They have been outstanding,” Wasim Jaffer concluded.
