The Indian team had a great day’s play at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on Day 1 of the first test match against England. They bowled out the hosts for a mere 183 in the first innings. India resumed the play on Day 2 at 21 for no loss.
Former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt feels that the Indian side should bat four sessions and put at least 350 runs on the board. In a video uploaded on his Youtube channel, Salman said,
“It may get tough for the Indian batters. But even if they get all out for 280, they will get a 100 runs lead, which will not be bad. In an ideal scenario, if the Indian batting plays four sessions, they will score at least 350. And if they manage that, then England will find it difficult to save the test. They will have to make a big comeback. Because they have only 2-3 capable batsmen who will score runs against this Indian bowling attack.”
“Anyone from Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ajinkya Rahane has to play a big inning for India to get to 350 and win the test match,” he further added.
Salman Butt also praised the Indian bowling attack. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah took a four-wicket haul, while Mohammad Shami picked up three wickets. Butt stated that the Indian bowlers bowled attacking lines which helped them to restrict England to 183. He said,
“Indian bowlers were outstanding. They bowled to the strengths and attacked the wickets. All the wickets that have fallen are either led before or bowled. Even in the caught behind dismissals, it wasn’t that the batsman played a bad shot, only Dan Lawerence was unlucky to get dismissed to a delivery going to the leg side. But apart from that, all the balls were aimed at the stumps.”
