Former cricketer Aakash Chopra has hailed the current Indian test bowling attack as the best that the country ever had. In the ongoing Test series against England, the Indian bowlers have bowled the visitors out in all four innings. Pacers, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj are leading the bowling chart with 12 and 11 wickets respectively in the series.

In a video uploaded on Aakash Chopra’s Youtube Channel, the former Indian cricketer asserted that this is India’s best test bowling line-up.

“This is India’s best Test bowling line-up ever. There is no doubt about that. It is because when Bhajji and Kumble were together, two great spinners, we did not have four or five fast bowlers,” Chopra said.

Aakash Chopra also highlighted that India has plenty of skillful fast bowling options at the moment unlike previously when there were one or two pacers. He said,

“Along with Zaheer Khan, there was Ajit Agarkar sometimes, and Ashish Nehra or RP Singh on other occasions. But four or five of this level together – that along with Bumrah you get Shami, Ishant, Siraj, Shardul, and there are still fast bowlers sitting out. This is insane, the depth we are seeing.”

“I don’t think India has had a better bowling line-up than this in their cricket history. Yes, this is the best ever,” he further added.

Don’t see Ravichandran Ashwin playing in the Headingley test: Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra also responded to a query about Ravichandran Ashwin’s inclusion in the playing XI for the Headingley test match. The former India cricketer feels the off-spinner won’t get an opportunity in the next test. He said:

“Not in Headingley. Lord’s was a good opportunity to play two spinners as the pitch was dry, The Hundred was being played there. But now in Headingley, Leeds you don’t need spinners.”

“The combination is not going to change, they only have to decide which four pacers will play. I don’t see Ashwin playing in the next test,” Aakash Chopra concluded.
