India’s number three in Test cricket the specialist batsman Cheteshwar Pujara got off the mark while facing the 35th delivery at the Lord’s in India’s second innings.
Meanwhile, In the first innings, India posted 364 runs on the board at Lord’s. The main credit for that goes to Indian openers who had a hundred-plus partnership in the first innings. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul both batted brilliantly. However, KL Rahul was turned out to be the best performer as he scored an outstanding century. Meanwhile, in the first innings, Cheteshwar Pujara failed to contribute big runs. Pujara only managed to score 9 runs and was dismissed by James Anderson. Adding to it Pujara didn’t have a good outing in the first Test at Nottingham either as he scored on 4 runs in the first innings of the match. Also, Pujara is going through a rough patch lately and has been failing to score big runs for India in Tests.
During batting in the second innings at Lord’s, Pujara was defending one ball after the other by English pace battery. Pujara played his natural game and kept dodging and defending deliveries back to back. He didn’t score a single run and for the straight 34 deliveries. Meanwhile, he finally got off the mark in his 35th ball of the second innings. Notably, the crowd was cheering Pujara when he scored his first run on Day 4.
However, this was not the first time Pujara has faced over 30 deliveries to get off the mark. In June 2021 Pujara scored his first run on his 36th ball against New Zealand. Meanwhile, In January 2018 he got off the mark in his 54th ball of the match against South Africa.
