Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has recovered from the covid-19 virus and is out of isolation. He had a net session on Sunday, July 3 at the Edgbaston in Birmingham, as reported by Sportstar. The right-hander tested positive for the virus last week during the four-day warm-up match against Leicestershire. According to the rules, he went in isolation and was under the care of the BCCI medical team.
Notably, Rohit Sharma did not bat in the second inning of the warm-up match. He also missed the fifth Test match against England. In Rohit Sharma’s absence, Jasprit Bumrah was appointed as the Indian skipper for the match. However, the right-handed batter is out of isolation now after testing negative for the covid-19 virus.
Rohit Sharma had a training session at the Edgbaston to get back in his groove. He will be unavailable for the T20 warm-up match against Northamptonshire today. However, the Indian skipper will play the limited-overs series against England later this month.
“Yes, Rohit has tested negative and as per medical protocols is now out of quarantine. However, he is not playing today’s T20 warm-up game against Northamptonshire as he will need some recovery time and training ahead of the first T20I,” a senior BCCI official told PTI.
