ENG vs IND: [WATCH] Mohammed Siraj And Harry Brook Engage In Heated Altercation On Day 3 Of The 1st Test

Mohammed Siraj and Harry Brook were involved in a tense exchange on Day 3 of the first Test between England and India at Headingley on Sunday, June 22. The confrontation occurred after Brook dispatched Siraj for back-to-back boundaries in the 84th over, capitalizing on the lack of movement from the new ball.

Brook looked comfortable against the fresh cherry, playing two elegant shots off Siraj, who appeared frustrated. In response, the pacer delivered a sharp ball that jagged back in sharply, beating Brook’s defence, followed by a prolonged glare and a few words.

Brook, unfazed, gestured him away and focused on maintaining his rhythm. However, Siraj’s attempt to unsettle the batter backfired, as Brook hammered 18 runs off his next over, including a towering six over long-on. You can watch the video here:

Mohammed Siraj endured a tough outing, taken apart by Harry Brook in the 86th over. Struggling with rhythm since Day 2, his only success came with Ben Stokes’ wicket. Known for fiery exchanges, Siraj was previously fined for confrontations during the 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Harry Brook Departs For 99, Misses Out On Memorable Ton At Home

Harry Brook entered the 90s after launching an aggressive attack on Mohammed Siraj and moved to 99 with a couple of runs off Prasidh Krishna at the start of the 88th over. He survived a close call the very next ball, almost edging it to the keeper, but couldn’t hold back on a short delivery later in the over.

Attempting a pull shot, Brook failed to keep it down, and Shardul Thakur completed a nervy catch at fine leg, ending the batter’s hopes of a century at his home ground. Prior to this Test, Brook had featured at Headingley only once — during the 2023 Ashes — where he scored 3 and 75 in the two innings.

At the time of reporting, England’s lower order is making a strong push, with Chris Woakes and Brydon Carse batting confidently. The hosts have reached 441/7, narrowing the deficit to just 30 runs against India’s first-innings total.
