Veteran pace bowler from England James Anderson has rated Pakistan skipper Babar Azam as the best T20I batsman in the world at present. The comments came moments ahead of the final and third T20I between England and Pakistan at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester.

Speaking on BBC, Anderson showered heaps of praise on the talented batsman. Babar, who is currently ranked No. 2 in the ICC men’s T20I player rankings was one of the star performers for Pakistan in the T20I series. James Anderson said:

“For me, Babar Azam is the best T20 player in the world right now.”

Meanwhile, Babar Azam didn’t have a great outing in the final encounter where he got out, scoring a paltry knock of 11 runs from 13 balls. Pakistan managed only 154 runs which was convincingly chased by England.

There is no pressure of captaincy on me: Babar Azam

Babar copped a lot of criticisms after losing the T20I series against England. Speaking to Cricket Pakistan, Babar Azam quashed rumours of pressure and said that he takes everything as a challenge. Also, he will definitely improve in limited-overs cricket and Test cricket. Azam stated:

“There is no pressure of captaincy on me. When I bat, I only think about my batting. During fielding and when you are outside, of course, you think about captaincy. You need to learn things. You have been given the responsibility and you cannot take the pressure and keep wondering what will happen.

“I take up everything as a challenge. My white-ball cricket is improving. I have started well in Test matches and you will definitely see me getting better.”

Pakistan’s next assignment will be against West Indies, which starts on July 27 in Barbados.
