After a humiliating defeat in the first ODI against India at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, more trouble awaits for the England Cricket Team ahead of the 2nd ODI scheduled to take place on March 26 (Friday). The visitors lost the plot in the 2nd half of their run chase losing a couple of wickets in quick succession and thus falling short by 66 runs.

Incidentally, England skipper Eoin Morgan split the webbing between his right thumb and index finger that required four stitches while fielding and went out of the ground. In another incident, English batsman Sam Billings injured his collarbone following an awkward dive to stop a boundary. However, it was not the same injury that Billing suffered on his shoulder leading to the 2019 World Cup which ruled him out of the campaign. Although both of them came out to bat in the 2nd half but looked in discomfort.

“We’re going to wait 48 for hours and see how it is…give as much time as needed to hopefully be available for Friday,” Morgan said. “I haven’t spoken with Sam about his batting so I don’t know in his instance… In mine, it’s never going to be at 100 percent but it’s not that I can’t hold a bat,” Morgan added.

Moving from the defeat, England skipper Eoin Morgan said, they would give the majority of their players opportunities which could mean openings for Matt Parkinson, Reece Topley, and uncapped Liam Livingstone.

“ODI cricket has been the vehicle to grow our squad and try and improve beyond our best XI on the field so there will be opportunities for guys coming in,” Morgan said.
