Ahead of the England v India Test series, Indian wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik has revealed that his first interview as a broadcaster will be released soon and it will be with Indian white-ball vice-captain Rohit Sharma.
The duo is currently in the UK for different reasons. While Rohit Sharma is there to play for India in the 5-match Test series against England, Dinesh Karthik is part of the commentary team for the same event. The series will start on August 4 at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
Ahead of the series, Rohit had posted a photo with Shardul Thakur and Karthik. The reason behind that wasn’t revealed up until now. Turns out, Karthik’s first interview as a broadcaster will be with Rohit. He revealed the news in an Instagram post. He penned a heartfelt caption:
“When he walked on the field for the first time representing India, I was there as the non-stiker. For my first-ever interview as a broadcaster, he was there for me.
“We spoke about Samaira, Ritika, his inner voice, moments when he cried and also many fun stories. Thanks Sham!
Coming soon! ” he added.
England-India Test series will start the cycle of the 2021-23 World Test Championship
Last month, India lost the inaugural edition of the WTC final to New Zealand. Ahead of the second cycle, Virat Kohli had stated that the Indian team will regroup and come back stronger. The 5-match Test series against England will mark the beginning of the WTC cycle.
India will be looking to get off to a good start. This is perhaps their best chance of winning a Test series in England. The hosts are currently crippled on the batting front. The withdrawal of Ben Stokes also signals spooky times ahead for the Englishmen. However, they will be aided by the experienced duo of James Anderson and Stuart Broad in the bowling attack. It will be an interesting series to follow considering the reputations of the two teams in action.
