“Future Indian Opening Pair Is Here”- Fans React To Yashasvi Jaiswal And Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Inclusion For The West Indies Tour

For the upcoming WTC series against the West Indies, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been given their first Test calls-up.

For the two-match away series beginning on July 12, the BCCI selected both of the burgeoning stars of Indian cricket.

In the Test format, Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma will continue to serve as the team’s captains.

After underwhelming in the recently concluded ICC World Test Championship final against Australia, veteran batter Cheteshwar Pujara has lost his spot.

Similar to Virat Kohli and Abhinav Mukund, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal can debut in a Test match together.

For the away series against the West Indies, the BCCI frequently includes new players in the Test squad.

Virat Kohli and Abhinav Mukund were included in the Indian Test squad for the 2011 West Indies tour, along with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad.

On June 20, 2011, the two players made their debuts together.

A right-handed batter like Kohli, Gaikwad is the opposite of Mukund, who was a left-handed opener like Jaiswal.

Another intriguing similarity is that Mukesh Kumar, a right-arm fast bowler from India, may make his World Test Championship debut against the West Indies in the upcoming series.

Praveen Kumar, a former right-arm pacer from India, made his debut against the West Indies in 2011.

On July 12, 2023, the India vs. West Indies series will start. The opening Test game will take place in Dominica’s Windsor Park.

India wants to beat the West Indies to start off their new World Test Championship campaign on the right foot.

The two-match series will be broadcast live and without charge in India on DD Sports and JioCinema.
