Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh is India’s most successful off-spin bowler. He has picked 417 and 269 wickets in 103 test matches and 236 one-day matches, respectively for the country. He was also a fierce competitor off the field. The sight of Harbhajan dismissing opposition players was worth witnessing.

Harbhajan Singh shared a throwback video on his Instagram profile. The video was from the 1998 Commonwealth games. Harbhajan is seen dismissing Antigua and Barbuda batsman Sylvester Joseph.

He captioned the video as, “Nostalgia when cricket was played in commonwealth games.. #grateful.”

The Commonwealth 1998 games were held in Malaysia. It was the first time that cricket was included in the event. 16 teams participated in the tournament and were divided into four groups. India was in Group B along with Australia, Canada, and Antigua and Barbuda. Ajay Jadeja led the Indian side, while Anil Kumble was his deputy.

India won only one match out of the three (one no result) and was third in the points table. South Africa won the finals against Australia by 4 wickets.

Cricket will make a comeback in the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.
