Team India is gearing up for the 2022 T20 World Cup which begins on October 16 in Australia. After a group-stage exit from the tournament last year, the Rohit Sharma-led team will be keen to turn the tides this time. Former India cricketer Suresh Raina has picked his go-to-man for India at the mega-event.

Suresh Raina was all praise for Suryakumar Yadav, who has been in great form off-late. However, he picked Hardik Pandya as his go-to man. Raina expressed that Hardik Pandya will control the game for India, and also play the finisher’s role. He said,

“Suryakumar, the batting that he did in the last two years, I want him to show the same intent. There is one more dark horse. His angle and swing are brilliant. But my go-to man would be Hardik Pandya. He will control the game. he will bowl the crucial overs. And he will finish the game, what MS Dhoni has done for a long period. These players would be very important.”

“Suryakumar Yadav will be a game-changer for India but at the same time, don’t forget Arshdeep Singh, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma,” he added.

Things will be smooth for India if they start well against Pakistan: Suresh Raina

Team India will begin their 2022 T20 World Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday, October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Former India cricketer Suresh Raina feels if India starts well against Pakistan, things will be smooth for them thereafter. He said,

“India needs to start well as they face Pakistan in their first match. If we can do well in that match, things will be smooth as India will have the momentum. That is very crucial in the T20s”.

Before India’s opening encounter, they will play a couple of official T20 World Cup practice matches. The first will be against Australia on October 17 in Brisbane, while the second will also be at the same venue against New Zealand on October 19.
