“Hope He Keeps All Coins” – Sanju Samson Reacts After Yuzvendra Chahal Announces Himself As RR Captain

Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) skipper Sanju Samson has finally reacted to Yuzvendra Chahal calling himself the new captain on Thursday (March 17).

Incidentally, Chahal took over Rajasthan Royals’ Twitter account and put up a series of hilarious posts. These included messages to teammates Ravichandran Ashwin and Jos Buttler, a proposal to open the innings himself, and even a fake announcement of a captaincy change.

Sanju Samson had also succinctly congratulated Yuzvendra Chahal in the comments section of the post.

On Thursday, Sanju Samson, who is in quarantine currently, hosted a question-answer session on social media where a fan asked him about his thoughts on Chahal supposedly being the new RR captain.

Sanju replied:

“Very happy for him. Hope he keeps all the coins for me after the toss.”

Incidentally, the 27-year-old cricketer from Kerala pocketed a few toss coins before matches. When one of the tournament presenters asked him about the reason for the obsession, he said he found the coins “really nice”.

“He has natural leadership abilities” – Kumar Sangakkara on captain Sanju Samson

Into his second season with Rajasthan Royals, the former Sri Lankan captain will eye nothing less than the silverware when IPL 2022 kicks off on March 26.

Content with the squad they have managed to acquire during the auction, Sangakkara had a word of praise for their captain Sanju Samson, who is willing to learn with each passing game.

Speaking on a video shared by RR, Sangakkara said:

“There is no doubt in my mind that with someone like him in your side, he will be your first retention. He is a magnificent player, destructive… he’s a match-winner.”

He went onto add:

“In terms of captaincy, I’ve come to admire him greatly. He’s got such a passion for Rajasthan Royals, he started here, he values the franchise and the support and the connection. He’s a captain who is willing to admit that he perhaps doesn’t know everything as yet and is going to grow into it. He has natural leadership abilities and he is going to get better and better.”
