After a dominating run in the group stages, India’s winning bus has been halted in the Super 4 of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022. After losing to Pakistan on Sunday, the Men in Blue were humbled by Sri Lanka on Tuesday, leaving them on the brink of an ouster from the tournament.
Sri Lanka, led by Dasun Shanaka, have almost confirmed a berth in the Asia Cup 2022 final with two wins on the trot. India’s chances, on the other hand, are now reliant on Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. For India to qualify for the Asia Cup 2022 final, both Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will have to register wins against Pakistan.

Also, India need to defeat Afghanistan by a big margin to make sure that they have a superior net run rate than Afghanistan and Pakistan. However, if the Men in Green manage to win atleast one game, India will bow out of the 2022 Asia Cup.
India’s fate in the continental tournament will be decided on Wednesday when Pakistan lock horns with Afghanistan. Babar Azam and Co., who have looked dominating in the last two matches, are unlikely to lose this game. Thus, an exit is on the cards for Team India.
“We are still looking for answers” – Rohit Sharma after defeat against Sri Lanka
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma asserted that these two defeats on the trot will help learn a lot and help them in the coming months, including the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Throwing light on India’s bowling at the end of the game, Rohit stated:
“These are the only two games we’ve lost back-to-back. These things will teach us a lot. This bowling combination (two spinners and three seamers) is something I wanted to try and see how it goes. We are still looking for answers. We’ve been in two consecutive things with close finishes, which we will learn from.
“I have to give credit to Arshdeep for the way he came back to bowl the final over. Chahal and Bhuvi are senior pros now. We are looking at the likes of Avesh and Arshdeep to show what they can bring to the side,” he added.
