“I Apologise”: David Warner’s Kind Act For Disheartened Indian Fan Grabs Eyeballs

David Warner emerged as the highest run-scorer for Australia in the recently concluded ODI World Cup, amassing 535 runs. Australia secured a convincing six-wicket victory over Team India to claim the ODI World Cup 2023 title at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

Despite India’s impressive ten-match winning streak, they fell short on the ultimate day. Australia, led by Pat Cummins, restricted India to 240 and successfully chased the target in 43 overs, with Travis Head delivering a century.

The defeat left countless Indian fans disheartened, while Australia celebrated their sixth World Cup victory.

David Warner topped Australia’s run chart with 535 runs in the recent ODI World Cup

Following their World Cup victory, Australian batsman David Warner displayed a sincere gesture by addressing an Indian fan on X (formerly Twitter) and offering an apology after being called out for breaking “billions of hearts.”

Replying to the now deleted post, Warner wrote, “I apologise, it was such a great game and the atmosphere was incredible. India really put on a serious event. Thank you all.”

Earlier today, it was revealed that David Warner has been rested from the upcoming five-match T20I series between Australia and India, set to commence on Thursday.

Despite being Australia’s top run-scorer in the successful World Cup campaign with 535 runs, Warner will not participate in the series initially led by Matthew Wade, as announced last month.

“Selectors decided Warner would return home on the back of a successful yet demanding World Cup campaign,” Cricket Australia said in a statement on Tuesday.

On Monday night, India unveiled their T20 squad, featuring just three players from the World Cup: captain Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, and Prasidh Krishna. Shreyas Iyer will join the squad for the final two matches in Raipur and Bengaluru.
