England’s right-arm pacer, Liam Plunkett, who is not in the scheme of things for England at the moment spoke about his exclusion from the squad and admitted that he misses playing for England.

Speaking to The Cricketer, Liam said:

“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss England. The team we built over four or five years to become No.1 in the world and win the World Cup was great and I was with those guys day in, day out.

Liam last appeared for England in the 2019 World Cup final, where he took 3/42 helping England to clinch the title. “England is the highest team I can play for and I was disappointed with how it all finished, but I can take my last game for them being a win in a World Cup final,” he added.

Liam revealed that he was jealous and might have watched the odd highlight, but never a whole England match after his exclusion. He said, “I don’t think I watched any England games during that time because I was jealous of not being there. I might have watched the odd highlight, but I’d never sit down and watch a game. Now it’s the opposite and I’m more than happy to watch England. I’ll even get up early in the US to watch them.”

I’m looking forward to The Hundred: Liam Plunkett

Liam Plunkett, who will be playing for Welsh Fire in The Hundred, ECB’s 100-ball cricket tournament said he is looking forward to the tournament.

“Having franchise cricket in England is going to be something special and there is a lot of good talent on show. It’s good for the domestic players to get a chance to show how good they are as well the quality overseas players. I’ve not played much this year, but I feel ready to go,” he signed off.
