The festival of cricket; the Indian Premier League (IPL) is arguably the most popular T20 league in the world. The craze for the Indian Premier League is next level worldwide. Many foreign and Indians players take part in an auction to fulfill their dream of playing for an IPL franchise.
Life of many young cricketers changed after earning a big sum of money from IPL teams. Aussie star batsman Chris Lynn is one of the players who once set the auction table on fire by making him available for the auction. During the 2018 IPL auction which took place in Bangalore, Chris Lynn was in high demand as the teams like Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Kolkata Knight Riders were showing interest in him and wanted to add a Fierce Australian to their squad.
Lynn’s base price was just INR 2 crore which kept on increasing and finally stopped at INR 9.6 crore. Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise Kolkata Knight Riders ( KKR) roped in the devastating Aussie opener after some intense bidding.

While remembering the moment of snatching a big deal in the Indian Premier League from team KKR, Lynn disclosed that he was under massive pressure. Surprisingly, the 2018 IPL auction concurred with the Melbourne Renegades vs Brisbane Heat clash in Big Bash League (BBL) 2017/18 and Lynn was part of that match. He said that IPL auction news affected his concentration.
“We were playing (Melbourne) Renegades at the Gabba (on that day). I walked into the change room, and you got to hand your phones, but the (Brisbane Heat) manager had his. So, he’s watching it (the auction),” Lynn said while featuring in Guy Walker’s YouTube channel.
“As I am padding up to go out and warm-up, and then it’s like bang, bang (talking about teams bidding for him). I was like what’s going on. I remember that day clearly, I was warming up in the nets and am shaking. I was like what the hell has just happened. It was literally so hard to get it out of my mind because the press is talking about it when you are warming up,” he added.
The Aggressive Australian Chris Lynn had a wonderful outing in the IPL 2018, he scored 491 runs in 16 matches including three fifties. With his great performance, Kolkata Knight Riders reached the playoffs but were unavailable to win the trophy.
Currently in the 14th edition of IPL; IPL 2021 Lynn is a part of the most successful franchise and five-time champs Mumbai Indians.
