Veteran spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is having a good time at his new franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the ongoing 15th edition of the IPL. He is currently the highest wicket-taker with 24 scalps in 13 matches.

Meanwhile, Chahal has had good banters with opener Jos Buttler throughout the season. The Royals have had a running joke of Chahal opening the batting alongside Buttler, who is the leading run-scorer in the tournament. Yuzvendra Chahal has posted a couple of videos of him teasing the English cricketer.

Recently, Chahal joked that had he been opening consistently not just Buttler, he would have broken Virat Kohli’s record. Speaking to ESPNCricinfo on Polite Inquiries, Chahal said:

“If I had a chance to open – Then I would have broken every record, not just Jos Buttler. I think even Virat Kohli bhaiya’s record [973 runs] is left for me only. I’m going to break that record. I will break that record in 10 matches only because in every match I have to score a hundred, no? (laughs)”

Incidentally, Virat Kohli holds the record for the most runs scored in a single season when he smacked 973 runs, including four centuries in IPL 2016. He single-handedly took Royal Challengers Bangalore to the finals before losing against David Warner’s Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Yuzvendra Chahal reveals his dream hattrick

The 31-year-old spinner is broadly acknowledged for his remarkable accuracy and ability to chip in with wickets during crunch moments. Yuzvendra Chahal, who has been in remarkable form in IPL 2022, shared his thoughts regarding the dream hat-trick he would like to take.

The former RCB cricketer, who picked up a hat-trick this season, named two Indians and one South African player who would form his dream hat-trick. He went with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and AB de Villiers as his picks.

“One would be Virat Bhaiya, Rohit Bhaiya, and then I will go with AB Sir if he is playing, then definitely him,” Yuzvendra Chahal concluded.
