Australian opener David Warner continued his emphatic form in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. He slammed his second consecutive century in the tournament, against the Netherlands on Wednesday, October 25 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. He equalled legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s record during the stunning knock.

David Warner smashed 104 runs off 93 deliveries, including eleven boundaries and three centuries, at a strike rate of 111.83. His partnership of 132 runs for the second-wicket stand with Steve Smith laid the foundation for a huge total. Australia managed 399 runs in the innings, on the back of a great performance from the batting unit.

With this century, David Warner equalled Sachin Tendulkar’s record of the second most World Cup centuries. He has slammed six centuries in three ODI World Cup editions. He is just behind Rohit Sharma, who has seven ODI World Cup hundreds. The Australian opener broke Ricky Ponting’s record, who has slammed five ODI centuries to become Australia’s leading centurion in World Cups.

David Warner overtakes Rohit Sharma in ODI World Cup leading run-scorer list

David Warner now ranks fifth as the leading run-scorer in the history of the ICC ODI World Cups. He has scored 1324 runs in 23 matches, at an average of 63.04, and a strike rate of 100.83. He has slammed six centuries and three fifties, including a highest score of 178. Warner overtook Rohit Sharma in the list of most runs scored in ICC ODI World Cups. He is behind Virat Kohli, who ranks fourth with 1384 runs in 31 matches. Sachin Tendulkar tops the list with 2278 runs in 45 ODI World Cup matches, at an average of 56.95.

In the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023, David Warner has scored 332 runs in five innings, at an average of 66.40, including two centuries. He is third on the list of Most runs scored in the tournament, behind Quinton de Kock and Virat Kohli.
