South African opener Quinton de Kock delivered a dazzling show against Bangladesh in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Tuesday, October 24 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He slammed a daddy hundred to power South Africa to another 350-plus total in the tournament. This is his third century in the ongoing World Championship.

Quinton de Kock is the leading run-scorer in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 so far. He has scored 407 runs from five matches at an average of 81.40. He slammed centuries against Sri Lanka and Australia in the earlier league-stage matches. Against Bangladesh, the opener smashed 174 runs off just 140 deliveries with fifteen boundaries and seven sixes. He broke AB de Villiers’ record and has now scored the most centuries for South Africa in a single edition of the ICC ODI World Cup. AB de Villiers had scored two centuries in 2011.

The left-handed batter also joined an elite list of cricketers who have scored three or more centuries in a single edition. Mark Waugh achieved this feat in 1996, while Sourav Ganguly slammed three centuries in the 2003 edition. Australian cricketers Matthew Hayden and David Warner are also on the elite list. Quinton has an opportunity to break Kumar Sangakkara and Rohit Sharma’s records.

South African batters dominate ICC ODI World Cup 2023

South African batting unit has been in stunning form in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. They slammed 382 runs against Bangladesh in the recent match. Quinton de Kock scored a daddy hundred, while Heinrich Klaasen slammed 90 runs. Aiden Markram also scored a fifty in the innings. This is South Africa’s third 300-plus total in the tournament so far in five matches, including a mammoth 428 runs against Sri Lanka. Their batting unit has been the biggest positive for them in the tournament.
