Marnus Labuschagne admires Rohit Sharma‘s outstanding batting skills and mentions that he’s been learning by closely watching him. As a warm-up to the highly anticipated ICC ODI World Cup 2023 clash, Marnus Labuschagne, a rising star from Australia, has spoken highly of India’s dynamic captain Rohit Sharma.

This insight into Sharma’s abilities has heightened the anticipation for the showdown between these cricketing giants on October 8th in Chennai. Labuschagne, who secured his place in the World Cup squad with impressive performances against South Africa and India in September, couldn’t resist praising the batting finesse of India’s opener.

In an exclusive interview with FOX Cricket, Labuschagne recognized Sharma’s talent for scoring runs without taking unnecessary risks. “Rohit Sharma is someone who scored quite freely without taking any risks. He’s very hard to stop once get going,” said Labuschagne.

The India captain’s recent performances have been remarkably good, especially his outstanding 81-run innings against Australia in the last ODI match before the World Cup. Labuschagne, the Australian batting all-rounder, who had the opportunity to encounter Sharma during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, expressed his keenness to closely watch and learn from the Indian captain.

“As I said to Rohit out there when we were walking. I said ‘I am watching whatever you do, I want to learn. You guys are the best in these conditions. We are foreign to these conditions. You learn from the opposition, you learn from the way they do it. We try and learn and grow with each game,” he added.

Marnus Labuschagne’s last-minute return

Marnus Labuschagne’s path to the World Cup squad was filled with ups and downs. He wasn’t part of Australia’s initial squad, but his exceptional performances against South Africa and India changed that.

After being left out of the original 18-member squad in August, he’s now secured his place, and he’s set to take on the crucial No. 4 batting role, while Mitch Marsh opens for the team in the early matches of the tournament.
