ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Schedule Announced Of The Mega Event; Ahmedabad To Host The Final

Along with the ten locations for the massive event, which will take place in India over the course of 46 days later this year, the schedule for the ICC Men’sCricket World Cup 2023 has also been made public.

On October 5, England will play New Zealand in a rematch of the 2019 World Cup Final at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. Against five-time World Cup champion Australia in Chennai on October 8, the hosts India kick off their campaign.

At the showcase event, a total of 10 teams will compete, with the first eight having already qualified through the Cricket World Cup Super League.

The Qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe, which ends on July 9, will determine the final two spots

The top four teams advance to the knockout stage and semifinals after playing each other nine times in a round robin format.

Crucial Fixtures:

The tournament is full of pivotal matches, including the thrilling opening match and India’s match against the 2019 semifinalist Australia.

Australia takes on South Africa on October 13 in Lucknow with the hope of turning the tables after a dramatic match in the previous edition went in the Proteas’ favor.

The eagerly anticipated match between India and Pakistan is set for Sunday, October 15, in Ahmedabad. India defeated England handily in Manchester in their most recent World Cup match, which featured plenty of scoring.

On October 20, Pakistan will play Australia in Bengaluru. England will play South Africa in Mumbai on October 21.

On October 22 at the picturesque Dharamsala venue, India will take on New Zealand in an effort to avenge their semi-final loss from 2019. Australia will take on their archrivals England on November 4 in Ahmedabad.

In order to advance quickly to the final four years prior, the defending champions had thrashed the Australians. England, who just one year ago defeated India in the 2022 T20 World Cup semifinal, will be waiting for them on October 29 in Lucknow.

England will play Pakistan in the final group-stage game on November 12 in Kolkata.

Knockout Rounds:

On November 15th, the first semi-final will take place in Mumbai. The second semi-final will take place in Kolkata the following day. There will be a reserve day for each semi-final.

The Final will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19, with November 20 set aside as a backup date.

The first match in each of the three knockout rounds will start at 14:00 local time.

Tournament locations:

Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kolkata will be among the ten locations.

The warm-up games will take place in Hyderabad, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram, and Thiruvananthapuram from September 29 to October 3.
