India have been paired with Pakistan, New Zealand and Afghanistan in Group 2 of the Super 12 for the upcoming T20 World Cup, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on July 16 (Friday).
The groups, selected on the basis of team rankings as of 20 March 2021, see defending champions the West Indies pooled along with former champions England, Australia, and South Africa in Group 1 of the Super 12s, with two qualifiers from Round 1 joining them.

Group B: Bangladesh, Scotland, PNG, Oman

T20 World Cup Super 12 Group
Group 1: England, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, Winner Group A, Runner-up Group B
Group 2: India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Winner Group B, Runner-up Group A
The T20 World Cup is all set to begin on October 17 in the UAE and Oman but will be organised by the BCCI. The event was earlier supposed to take place in India but the suspension of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 midway through the season a few months ago forced the board to change the venue.

The qualifying round will see eight teams participate in the qualifying round. The teams competing in the preliminary stage are Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, Namibia, Oman, and Papua New Guinea.

Four teams will progress through to the final event, where eight automatic qualifiers will join them. The ICC T20 World Cup final will take place on November 14.
The venues for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 are Dubai International Stadium, the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the Sharjah Stadium, and the Oman Cricket Academy Ground.”
