Star fast bowler Jofra Archer deceived the threatening Travis Head with a slower delivery in the T20 World Cup match between Australia and defending champions England in Barbados on Saturday (June 8). Head was dismissed for 34 runs off 18 balls, which included three sixes and two fours.
He had also formed a 70-run partnership with David Warner for the opening wicket. The wicket fell in the sixth over of Australia‘s innings. Archer delivered a well-disguised slower ball, pitching it on a good length just outside off stump.
Head, attempting to play a shot over the off-side, moved away from the stumps. However, he misjudged the pace of the delivery and the ball struck the middle and leg stumps, dislodging the middle stump in a spectacular fashion. Archer appeared delighted to claim such a valuable wicket.

Head accumulated 567 runs in 15 matches during IPL 2024 at a strike rate of 191.55, featuring a century and four half-centuries. He aims to perform well for the Australian team in the upcoming ICC event. On the other hand, Archer recently returned to international cricket after over a year-long break. He took three wickets in T20Is against Pakistan.
“He has a trick up his sleeve” –When Jos Buttler praised Jofra Archer for his return to the T20 World Cup
England skipper Jos Buttler expressed his enthusiasm about Jofra Archer’s return before the T20 World Cup. The wicketkeeper-batsman referred to him as his primary bowler for the upcoming ICC event. However, he advised fans to avoid setting unrealistic expectations.
“It’s a huge encouragement for him to be back and see him ready to play. Everyone knows what he is capable of and the attitude he possesses. As a captain, he is someone you can always turn to in a game because he always has a trick up his sleeve.”
“It’s great to be able to call on him, but it’s important to manage expectations. He has been out of it for a while now, so we will need to look after him and realize that it might just take him a little while to be the Jofra of 2019.”
