Former England pacer Stuart Broad expressed that it is a disappointment that Virat Kohli will be missing the ongoing Test series between India and England. However, he added that personal matters should take precedence. The series is levelled 1-1 after the first two Test matches, with India winning the recent match at Visakhapatnam.

Virat Kohli had initially pulled out of just the first two Tests, citing personal reasons. Later, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that the veteran batter has withdrawn from the entire series. The board added that they respect Virat Kohli’s decision. Former cricketer Stuart Broad feels Virat Kohli’s absence presents a great opportunity for other youngsters in the team. Speaking to IANS, he said,

“It’s a shame for the series that he will be missing but India has won the last Test. Kohli is such a quality player, his passion, and his fire, but obviously, personal matters always take precedence. But it gives a great opportunity to young players also. So someone in the Indian batting line-up will stand up at some stage.”

‘Bazball’ has proven that it can work in every country: Stuart Broad

Former England pace bowler Stuart Broad further spoke about the ongoing India vs England five-match test series. He believes that ‘Bazball’ has proved to be an effective strategy across the world. England won the first Test in Hyderabad by 28 runs. Speaking about the test series, Stuart Broad said to the IANS,

“I love it. The series is one-all (1-1) at the moment, but I think ‘Bazball’ has proven that it can work in every country. I think Hyderabad’s performance is the most impressive performance of the England team. We won in Pakistan 3-0, we played well in New Zealand. So ‘Bazball’ is a mentality that is driving the game forward.”
