In the third match against Afghanistan, Rohit Sharma notched up his fifth T20I century, rescuing India from a challenging situation. This remarkable achievement solidifies Rohit’s status as the sole player to accumulate five centuries in the shortest format of the game, surpassing both Suryakumar Yadav and Australia’s Glenn Maxwell, who have four centuries each to their credit.

After facing consecutive ducks in the initial two matches of the series, Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian cricket team, made a triumphant return to form in the third T20I against Afghanistan. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Sharma’s decision seemed bold as India lost four wickets for just 22 runs.

However, the skipper himself held firm, playing an unbeaten inning of 121 runs off 69 balls, adorned with 11 fours and 8 sixes. The standout performance included a remarkable partnership of 190 runs for the 5th wicket with Rinku Singh (69 not out), who contributed with 2 fours and 6 sixes in his unbeaten 39-ball innings.

The final tally for India reached an imposing 212 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs. Afghanistan’s bowler Farid Ahmed claimed 3 wickets for 20 runs in his 4 overs, while Azmatullah Omarzai secured one wicket. Notably, Sharma’s innings marked a historic achievement as he became the first player in T20 International history to achieve five centuries, surpassing both his teammate Suryakumar Yadav and Australia’s Glenn Maxwell.

Rohit Sharma’s innings also set multiple records, including being part of India’s highest T20 partnership for any wicket, specifically a formidable 190-run stand with Rinku Singh. Furthermore, he etched his name as the fourth Indian batsman to register the highest individual score in T20 cricket.

The innings showcased Sharma’s resilience, breaking free from his initial series struggles to create a defining moment in T20 cricket history.
