Yashasvi Jaiswal’s remarkable performance during the second Test against England has ignited discussions among Indian cricket enthusiasts. The left-handed opener’s unbeaten score of 179* on the first day played a pivotal role in steering India to a total of 336/6 by stumps.

Jaiswal’s standout innings stood in stark contrast to the struggles faced by his fellow Indian batters, none of whom managed to surpass 35 runs. Impressively, this marks Jaiswal’s second Test century in just 10 innings.

Jaiswal said: “I wanted to play it session by session. When they were bowling well, I just wanted to get through that spell. Initially, the wicket was damp and there was spin and bounce, with a bit of seam. However, I wanted to convert the loose balls and play till the end. I would love to double this up and play till the end for the team.”

Amidst a challenging batting display from the rest of the team, Jaiswal shared insights into his approach, emphasizing the importance of taking one session at a time. This strategic mindset allowed him to navigate through the 93 overs bowled on the opening day successfully.

Notably, former Indian cricket team opener Aakash Chopra drew comparisons between Jaiswal’s effort and the legendary Sir Don Bradman. As discussions around Jaiswal’s exceptional innings continue, his name is sure to resonate in the conversations of Indian cricket fans for the foreseeable future.

Aakash Chopra said: “The most fantastic performance came from Yashasvi Jaiswal’s bat. How well the kid batted. Jimmy Anderson was the only pacer and he kept leaving his deliveries. He gave a lot of respect to James Anderson’s bowling.”

“When spin came, he hit two fours in the first over. After that, he showed why this player is so special. His conversion rate of fifties into centuries for players, who have 10 or more centuries in first-class cricket is at 73.something. He is even above Sir Don Bradman at this point in time. He is absolutely outstanding.”

The ex-Indian cricket star praised Yashasvi Jaiswal’s calm demeanor, stating, “Yashasvi consistently lives up to his name, displaying exceptional brilliance. His stand at 179 is notable, especially when the second-highest scorer hasn’t even reached 40. It’s a clear distinction between Yashasvi Jaiswal’s performance and the rest of the Indian team.”
