“India One OF The Favorites For T20 World Cup” – Shahid Afridi

Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi is all praise for Team India after their emphatic T20I series victory against England on Saturday at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. He believes that the Indian team is one of the favorites to win the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 later this year. The Rohit Sharma-led team defeated the hosts by 49 runs to take an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three-match T20I series.

Batting first, India managed to score 170 runs on the back of Ravindra Jadeja’s unbeaten 46 in the innings. In reply, the England batters failed to counter Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s bowling. They were bowled out for 121 runs in seventeen overs handing India a 49 runs win. Bhuvneshwar Kumar won the Player of the Match for his 3/15 in three overs.

Shahid Afridi took to Twitter to praise the Indian team. He expressed that they deserved to win the series. The former Pakistan cricketer also picked India as one of the favorites to win the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The mega-event will take place in Australia later this year.

“India have played outstanding cricket and deserve to win the series. Really impressive bowling performance, they’ll surely be one of the favorites for the T20 World Cup in Australia,” Afridi wrote while retweeting ICC’s post.

We are moving in the right direction:  Rohit Sharma

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is happy with his team’s performance against England in the first two T20I matches. He expressed that they are moving in the right direction. However, the skipper also added that he doesn’t want the team to get complacent, as the ICC T20 World Cup is just around the corner.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Rohit Sharma said,

“We are moving in the right direction and ticking the right boxes. The only red flag I see is we can’t get carried away,” he said. The skipper was all praise for his team’s approach in the powerplay both with bat and ball.”
