The India Women’s cricket team pulled off a record-breaking victory and beat the Ireland Women comprehensively by 304 runs in the 3rd ODI. This win ensured a whitewash in the series. India set a record for the highest total in women’s cricket in ODIs, totaling 435/5 in 50 overs. The total was boosted by personal bests from Pratika Rawal (154), Smriti Mandhana (135), and Richa Ghosh (59).

To survive this, Ireland had managed to take its time and in return was bowled out for a small total of 131. Pratika Rawal’s excellent performance in batting for the team helped her to be the Player of the Match.

Also, she earned the Player of the Series award for her 310 runs in the three-match test series. This great achievement alone shows their dominance against the Bangladeshi women’s cricket team as well as marks a new era for women’s cricket within India.

India Women’s Cricket Team whitewashes Ireland

The India Women’s cricket team outplayed Ireland Women by a margin of 304 runs in the final ODI to win 3-0. It was an opening stand of 233 between Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal that put the team in a dominating position, while Smriti became the first Indian ever to score an ODI hundred off just 70 balls. Pratika Rawal got her first ODI ton (154 off 129 balls); India thus put up 435/5, the fourth highest in women’s cricket.

A sad show for Ireland as the team got off to a sorry state in their chase. They continued losing wickets at regular intervals, although a partnership of 64 runs between Sarah Forbes and Orla Prendergast put up some fight.

India’s spinners benefited from the conditions and dominated as Deepti Sharma picked up three wickets. Ireland was bundled out for 131 in 31.4 overs. However, what is worrying is how India has fared in these conditions outside the subcontinent as they head into the 50-over World Cup.
