Smriti Mandhana made history when she scored the fastest One-Day International century by an Indian in women’s cricket during the third ODI against Ireland at the SCA Stadium in Rajkot. Smriti achieved this in just 70 balls but unfortunately could not keep her wickets together. She captained the side in the absence of Harmanpreet Kaur; this knock, in which she hit 12 boundaries and seven sixes, fetched her 135 runs.

She provided a flamy initiation to the innings, leaving adverse effects for the match. After hitting 9 fours and 6 sixes, unluckily, her breathtaking innings ended at the hands of someone who caught it at a short fine leg.

Consequently, her record-breaking century will be cited as a testimony to her extraordinary talent and dedication toward the sport. She has reached a new milestone in her career, which appears to be yet another proud moment for all in Indian women’s cricket.

Smriti Mandhana broke the record previously held by Harmanpreet Kaur

By producing the quickest ODI century by an Indian in women’s cricket, Smriti Mandhana goes into the annals of history. Mandhana made the overnight sensation in just 70 deliveries she faced in the third ODI against Ireland in Rajkot. Mandhana’s 135 blistering runs were studded with 12 bounds and seven sixes.

Mandhana broke the record of Harmanpreet Kaur as she had scored a hundred off 87 balls during a match played against South Africa. Mandhana’s hundred was the joint seventh-fastest century in ODI cricket, which she shared with the likes of Charlotte Edwards, who had recorded a similar performance back in 2012.

With this, Mandhana secured her 10th ODI century, reached third on the all-time century list for Women’s ODIs, led by Meg Lanning (15) and Suzie Bates (13). Mandhana’s record also speaks volumes about her talent and her dedication to the game.
