IPL 2020: Match 34 – Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings – 5 Key Players To Watch Out For

The MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings battle it up against the Delhi Capitals led by Shreyas Iyer at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. We shall expect a game of high volume as Chennai Super Kings are in a very dodgy position if the playoff qualification is to be considered. The yellow franchise cannot afford to lose a single game going forward in this tournament if they have any hopes of qualifying for the playoffs.

This season has rather looked off for the Chennai Super Kings franchise after having lost both Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina before the season started. Whereas on the other hand, Delhi Capitals have looked at their very best this season after having lost just two games in this season.

With the match expected to be a high scoring affair since the match is at Sharjah, Let’s take a look at the five key players to watch out for when Chennai Super Kings lock horns with Delhi Capitals.

Let’s take a look at the five players to watch out for when Chennai Super Kings lock horns with Delhi Capitals:

1. Faf Du Plessis

Faf du Plessis

The former South African Captain has been in tremendous form ever since the start of this edition of IPL. Averaging 74.75 in the 6 matches he played, right up on the second spot for most runs, scoring 299 of them.

The Royal Challengers bowlers upfront should be ready with their spells because the form Faf is in while opening for the team, it won’t take him time to single-handedly snatch the game away from them.

2. Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer looked in all sorts of a different mood against Kolkata Knight Riders at Sharjah Cricket Stadium as he took Delhi Capitals passed the score of 228 with the help of his knock of 88.

Batting at 3 Iyer has undoubtedly been that batsmen who pace the innings according to the team’s requirements which is why the DC captain is another player we should all watch out for this season. Though in the match against Rajasthan Royals, Shreyas Iyer had an awkward fall on his shoulder which resulted in him missing the remainder of the game. Which is why it remains to see if Shreyas Iyer will feature in the match against Chennai Super Kings.

3. Sam Curran

The English Allrounder has been rising star for the Chennai Super Kings franchise ever since the first game that happened against Mumbai Indians. Other than his sublime bowling performance we’ve also seen glimpses of his firm striking of the ball.

In the last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, we saw Sam Curran open the batting alongside Faf Du Plessis where he scored a quickfire 31 off 21 deliveries. It is expected that Curran will continue to open later in the tournament as well since he was responsible for giving Chennai Super Kings the required start in the powerplay, what was missing ever since the IPL season started.

4. Kagiso Rabada

The South African Speedster has looked in superb touch this season. He was instrumental in Delhi Capitals winning that super over against Kings XI Punjab where the batsmen had no escape from his toe crushing yorkers.

Looking at his current form, Kagiso Rabada will be a key player for Delhi Capitals franchise this season. Rabada holds key if the Delhi franchise has any chance of winning the title this year.

5. Anrich Nortje

The Proteas pace bowler who made an impact in the test arena for the South African national side has been another unsung hero for the Delhi Capitals franchise. He along with Kagiso Rabada has been instrumental in Delhi Capitals proven success this year as both have been opening the bowling for the side upfront.

Also, Nortje has been bowling at the death saving those crucial runs for Delhi at the back end of the innings. In the recent game against Rajasthan Royals, Nortje clocked the fastest delivery in the history of the Indian Premier League.
