Chennai Super Kings lost their second match on the bounce after losing to Delhi Capitals in Dubai on Friday, September 26. They lost the game by 44 runs after losing their previous one by 16 runs against Rajasthan Royals in Sharjah.

From facing problems due to the impact of dew to not getting the right team combination, CSK faced a lot of issues against Delhi. They are currently fifth in the points table with two defeats from three matches.

Here are the top 5 talking points from the DC vs CSK contest which threw some potent questions to the CSK camp:

1. The Impact of Dew in DC vs CSK Contest

CSK coach Stephen Fleming in the post-match press conference after the game, spoke about how they have misunderstood the impact of dew in the games that they have lost. He further said that the dew disrupted their plans they made coming into the games that they lost.

This became the most important  DC vs CSK talking point from the match.

2. Not The Right Team Combination For CSK

The hamstring injury to Ambati Rayudu and the absence of Suresh Raina in the mix made it difficult for the CSK think tank to get the right combination against RR first and then Delhi. Also, the top-order misfiring has made the job difficult for the middle-order, who ultimately succumbed to the pressure of keeping up to the asking rate.

The Ruturaj Gaikwad experiment in the middle-order failed badly. Also, Dhoni batting down the order, hurt CSK’s chances.

3. Prithvi Shaw Showing His Class in DC vs CSK Contest

Shaw was hugely criticised after the way he got cheaply in the first game. However, against Chennai, he looked more assured in his strokeplay. In the mid-innings break, he spoke about, how he made up his mind on only playing ground shots.

Shaw scored 64 off 43 balls and in the process laid a perfect platform for the middle order to reap the rewards of a good start. It was one of the deciding factors of the game and one of the 5 talking points from CSK vs DC game.

4. CSK Spinners Lacked Discipline As Compared to DC

CSK spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Piyush Chawla bowled a lot of short and fast-paced deliveries as compared to the Delhi spinners. They also bowled fast which made it easy for the opposition batters to score quickly. While Jadeja went for 11 per over, Chawla was close to giving 10 runs per over.

On the other hand, the Delhi spinners bowled economically. Axar Patel went for just 18 from his 4 overs, while Amit Mishra 23. Together they kept CSK at bay in the middle-overs, making it difficult for their batters at the death.

5. Clinical Delhi Capitals Performance

It was a clinical and a capital performance from Delhi Capitals against Chennai Super Kings. DC ticked all the boxes as far as bowling and batting were concerned. They missed a few catches in the outfield, something they will surely address before playing their next game against SRH on September 29.
