Kolkata Knight Riders batsman and former skipper Dinesh Karthik has admitted that the franchise has had an up and down journey in the Indian Premier League 2021. The Eoin Morgan-led team is seventh on the points table with just two wins in seven matches.
In a documentary released by the Kolkata Knight Riders on their social media account, Dinesh Karthik expressed that the Kolkata-based franchise has played good cricket in patches but has not been consistent. Karthik said:
“I think it’s been up and down. I think we’ve played some good cricket. We’ve played some good cricket in patches. But we’ve not been consistent, that’s why we are at this stage right now.”
“I think we are definitely capable of better cricket. At various points of time, different people have stood up, and at times the main guys haven’t stood up,” said Dinesh Karthik.
Sometimes you can get on a roll and sometimes you can get on a bad roll as well: Dinesh Karthik
The Kolkata Knight Riders had a dismal outing in the first phase of the Indian Premier League 2021. They also failed to qualify for playoffs last year and will be keen to put out a spirited performance in the second phase of IPL 2021.
Dinesh Karthik also spoke about the challenges of playing in the Indian Premeir League. He said,
“You know that’s one of the challenges of playing the IPL. I think it’s a hard tournament; it’s not an easy one. Sometimes, you start doing well, you can get on a roll, and sometimes when you don’t do well, you can get on a bad roll as well.”
