Mumbai Indians beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 13 runs in match 9 of IPL 2021 in Chennai on Saturday. This was Mumbai’s second win in three games while SRH’s third loss in as many games. They have now lost six games straight in Chennai in the IPL. This win has put Mumbai at the top of the points table with a better run-rate (+0.367) than RCB. SRH. meanwhile are languishing at the bottom of the points table. More about match 9 report in detail below.

For the second time in two games, Mumbai Indians have successfully defended a total around 150. They did it against KKR a few nights ago and repeated the performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Meanwhile, SRH has squandered a chase for the third time straight. The pair of Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah were too hot to handle for the Sunrisers’ lower-middle order. SRH got a good start through David Warner (36) and Jonny Bairstow (46). Bairstow was particular;y aggressive in his approach making the most of the batting powerplay and the first 10 overs.

He found an unlucky way to get out as he was hit-wicket after batting beautifully. Warner’s run-out in the 12th over of the innings turned the game on its head for SRH. They lost the plot and fell to the guile of Rahul Chahar who bamboozled the SRH lower-middle order. He bowled a spell of three for 19 picking the wickets of Manish Pandey (2), Virat Singh (11) and Abhishek Sharma (7). He finished with 3 for 19 from his spell, which turned out to be a matchwinning one.

Quinto De Kock scored 40 at the top. Meanwhile, Kieron Pollard’s 35 off 22 balls was instrumental in taking Mumbai to exactly 150.

RashidKhan bowled a wicketless spell for 22 as his fellow Afghan teammate Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman picked up two for 29. Meanwhile, barring RCB’s chase of 160, all the other teams have failed to chase down totals in Chennai.
