The defending champions Mumbai Indians, on Friday, touched down in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to play the second phase of the Indian Premier League 2021. The second phase of the tournament is all to resume from September 19 in Dubai and will run until October 15.
The Mumbai Indians team will undergo 6-day quarantine at the luxurious The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, before entering the bubble and commencing their training. The resort is located just 20 minutes away from Abu Dhabi International Airport. It comprises 312 rooms, 64 suites, and 14 meeting rooms, including other amenities like Iridium Spa, Luxury indoor lap pool, Athletic Club, Outdoor pools, Private beach, Unique Meeting & Event Space, Seaside dining.
The official Instagram handle of Mumbai Indians posted few pictures, before and after landing in the UAE. In a video featuring Jayant Yadav, they wrote, “Off we go! ✈️🇦🇪 The countdown has begun”
Mumbai Indians also posted a picture on their arrival at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort. They wrote, “Checked-in @stregissaadiyatisland ✅. Home away from home for our #OneFamily 🏠 #MumbaiIndians #IPL2021 @marriottbonvoy”
Mumbai Indians fourth in the points table
The Mumbai-based franchise had a decent outing in the first phase of IPL 2021. They are fourth on the points table having won four out of the five matches played so far, with a Net Run Rate of +0.062.
The defending champions will take on Chennai Super Kings in the very first match after resumption on September 19 at the Dubai International Stadium. The last time, these two teams faced each other, Mumbai Indians emerged as winners in a thrilling last-ball encounter. The five-time IPL champions will be keen to start off the UAE leg of IPL 2021 on a winning note.
