Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has showered praise on Chennai Super Kings after they convincingly beat Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday in Sharjah. After restricting them to 156 runs, CSK chased down the target with 11 balls to spare to go to the top of the points table.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis gave CSK the perfect start they needed before significant contributions from Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, and Suresh Raina took the yellow army home. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said:
“The ‘C’ in CSK was for comeback but now I am saying that you should make it ‘C’ for Champion because this is Champion Super Kings. They had defeated the Mumbai Indians in Dubai and came to Sharjah, a ground which is not likely to be their fortress, but there also they defeated Bangalore.”

Incidentally, CSK have staged a historic comeback after finishing seventh in IPL 2020. They are currently the table toppers in IPL 2021 with 14 points from nine games.
“Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis – both played in an explosive fashion” – Aakash Chopra praises CSK batters
Speaking about CSK’s run chase, Aakash Chopra showered praise on CSK batters, saying that their batsmen threw their bat at everything and never really allowed RCB bowlers to settle.
“Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis – both played in an explosive fashion. First Ruturaj was the aggressor, Faf took his time a little. After that, they didn’t take the name of stopping. The good thing was that whoever came, kept on throwing his bat,” Aakash Chopra said.
“CSK are looking at No.1 or No.2. Chennai’s spirits will rise even further if Mumbai don’t qualify because that is the only team against whom they get stuck. So, it will be smooth sailing for CSK if Mumbai don’t qualify,” he added.
The Chennai Super Kings face the Kolkata Knight Riders next on Sunday in Abu Dhabi.
