IPL 2022: “16 Overs Are Sorted”- Aakash Chopra Lauds The Bowling Attack Of Rajasthan Royals

Star commentator Aakash Chopra believes Rajasthan Royals are one of the top contenders to lift the trophy of IPL 2022. In a video uploaded on his Youtube Channel, Chopra highlighted the strengths of RR squad. He said that having four bowlers like- Ashwin, Chahal, Prasidh Krishna & Trent Boult, is their biggest strong point.

“You might not see a better combination of four bowlers anywhere else. They have got Yuzi Chahal, Ashwin, Boult, and Prasidh Krishna. Eight overs of spin, eight overs of pace, 16 overs are sorted. They can get some overs from Neesham and Riyan Parag too.”, Chopra said.

Bat Buttler in the middle order- Aakash Chopra

Rajasthan Royals signed opener Devdutt Padikkal for a whopping amount of 7.75 crores during IPL 2022 auction. This was a surprise for fans as the franchise already had the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson to play a similar role in the XI.

Chopra believes that choosing the opening combination will be a headache for the team. He also gave his opinion about the same and picked Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal to open the innings for Rajasthan.

As an opener, Jos Buttler has incredible numbers in the IPL. He has batted at that position 37 times scoring 1408 runs at an average of 40.23 and strike rate of 156.10. However, Chopra said that Buttler should bat in the middle order to strengthen the inexperienced middle-order.

“All of our eyes were opened in shock when despite retaining the likes of Samson, Jaiswal, and Buttler, RR were going hard for Devdutt Padikkal. Whom will you open with? That’s the only tricky question that they need to answer. According to me, they need to open Padikkal with Jaiswal and see what happens and bat Buttler in the middle order. This is because, apart from Karun Nair and Riyan Parag, RR don’t have an experienced Indian batter in the middle-order.”, Chopra said.
