Unlike previous seasons the Royal Challengers Bangalore have retained most of their team that they bought in last year’s mega auction and are backing their players to do the job. Skipper Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli are at the top of the list for retention. Kohli was the highest run-getter for India in the recently concluded T20 World Cup, scoring 296 runs, and has found his consistency after completing the Asia Cup. The fans hope he will consistently score big runs for the team this season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Glenn Maxwell, who they initially retained, has again been included. He is going through a poor patch of form, but the franchise still has faith in him, given his ability. He has recently suffered a leg break and will be out of action for several months. Wanindu Hasaranga, the no 1 T20I bowler and the highest wicket-taker in the T20 World Cup, has also been retained. He will have the opportunity to prove himself at the Chinnaswamy. He was the highest wicket-taker for the team and the second-highest in the tournament in the previous edition. He will be expected to spin his web again this season.

Royal Challengers Bangalore retain Mohammed Siraj for the 2023 IPL season

Mohammed Siraj will continue playing for the team despite having an abysmal outing, with the franchise claiming only nine wickets. The management still has faith in his abilities. Wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik, who featured for India in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2022, will be hopeful of continuing to be impactful as a finisher for the franchise after a stellar previous season in 2022.

Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood is amongst the overseas players retained by the franchise. He was one of the franchise’s top performers, taking 20 wickets in 12 matches. The team has a purse of 8.75 crores to strengthen their team in the auction and go all the way this time.
