The 2022 T20 World Cup came to an end with England defeating Pakistan in the final on Sunday, November 13 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground to lift the trophy. The tournament witnessed several terrific performances throughout, putting up a fantastic show for the fans. To acknowledge the performances of the players in the tournament, the International Cricket Council on Monday, released the list of the Most Valuable XI of the tournament.

Indian players, Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli found themselves in the valuable XI. Kohli had an outstanding tournament, scoring 296 runs in six innings, at an average of 98.6. He also had four half-centuries to his name. The veteran batter ended up as the leading run-scorer in the tournament. Along with him, Suryakumar Yadav also played brilliantly, smashing three half-centuries in the tournament. He scored 239 runs at an average of 59.75.

The duo formed the backbone of India’s batting attack at the T20 World Cup. Four England players, skipper Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Mark Wood, and Alex Hales were also included in the Valuable XI. Pakistan pacers Shaheen Afridi and Shadab Kham too made the cut in the team.

Hardik Pandya named 12th man in ICC’s most valuable XI

Meanwhile, Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya was named as the 12th man by the International Cricket Council in their Most Valuable XI. He scored 128 runs for India at a strike rate of 131.95, including a half-century in the tournament. The all-rounder also picked eight wickets in six innings, at an average of 18.25. He played a crucial role in his team playing in the middle order.
