Despite facing significant setbacks due to a severe car accident towards the close of the preceding year, Pant showcased resilience by attending the IPL auction in Dubai. Joining him were esteemed figures like head coach Ricky Ponting and team director Sourav Ganguly. Notably, Pant’s last appearance on the cricket field dates back to May 2022, when he exhibited his prowess with a commendable score against Mumbai at the renowned Wankhede Stadium. This ongoing absence underscores Pant’s pivotal role within the Delhi Capitals framework, even amidst challenging circumstances.

Reflecting on the transformative events following his life-altering accident, Pant opened up about the profound impact it had on his life. Emphasizing the harrowing ordeal, he admitted grappling with intense physical pain initially.

However, he expressed gratitude for the strides made in his recovery journey. Pant candidly shared, “Surviving such an accident was a stroke of luck. The initial phase was particularly grueling, marked by excruciating pain. But as I reflect upon my progress, I feel a sense of optimism and confidence in my recuperation.”

Turning the focus to the IPL Auction 2024 proceedings, a whirlwind of activity unfolded as ten franchises secured 72 players, with 30 of them hailing from overseas. The financial dynamics of the event reached staggering heights, amounting to Rs 230.45 crore in total transactions.

One of the standout moments he has witnessed Australian pacer Mitchell Starc rewrite the IPL record books, securing a monumental bid of Rs 24.75 crore from the Kolkata Knight Riders. Conversely, Josh Hazlewood, another Australian talent, experienced a surprising turn of events, remaining without a bid despite his base price set at Rs 2 crore.
