Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul led from the front against Rajasthan Royals in match number 44 of IPL 2024 played at Ekana Stadium, Lucknow on 27th April.

RR captain Sanju Samson won the toss and decided to field first. LSG lost 2 early wickets of Quinton de Kock and Marcus Stoinis cheaply. KL Rahul provided the impetus with some attacking shots against the pacers and spinners making life tough for RR bowlers.

KL Rahul looked impressive with his shots and did not allow RR bowlers to settle. He played with intent keeping the scoreboard ticking along with Deepak Hooda who helped LSG to recover from a tough situation. LSG captain scored fifty off just 31 balls to maintain the momentum for the hosts. Deepak Hooda and KL Rahul added 115 runs for the 3rd wicket that steadied the ship for LSG.

LSG captain Rahul’s innings ended caught by Boult at the boundary. He made 76 of 48 deliveries with 8 fours and 2 sixes. Ayush Badoni and Krunal Pandya added valuable runs in the death to help LSG post 196 for 5 in 20 overs. KL Rahul looked impressive against Yuzvendra Chahal and R Ashwin taking singles and hitting boundaries to keep the scoreboard ticking for LSG. With the T20 World Cup selection around the corner, it will be a tough selection headache.

LSG captain struggled initially losing wickets of de Kock and Marcus Stoinis cheaply. KL Rahul made the batting look easy along with Deepak Hooda. LSG ended the first six overs at 46 for 2. After the field restrictions, KL Rahul and Hooda kept the momentum going for LSG.

KL Rahul broke a few records against Rajasthan Royals:

KL Rahul became the fastest opener to hit 4000 IPL runs. He achieved this remarkable feat in 94 innings surpassing Kohli of RCB who scored it in 107 innings. The other legendary players on the list are – veteran RCB batter Chris Gayle, who completed 4,000 runs in 122 innings and David Warner, who achieved the feat in 162 innings.
