IPL 2024: Shikhar Dhawan’s Return Date From Injury Confirmed

Punjab Kings are grappling with a challenging scenario in this season’s IPL. Out of the eight matches played so far, they’ve secured victory only twice, losing the other six encounters. Their current standing places them in ninth position on the points table.

The team’s struggle for consistent performance could be linked to the absence of their regular captain, Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan sustained an injury before PBKS’ match against Rajasthan Royals on April 13, sidelining him from action since then, with Sam Curran assuming leadership duties.

Prior to the forthcoming match of Punjab Kings, the team’s spin bowling coach, Sunil Joshi, stepped up to offer insights into Dhawan’s injury status, hinting that the opener might recover in time for the upcoming game against Kolkata Knight Riders.

“Dhawan was injured on the ground, we miss his batting services. He is on the road to recovery. We saw him batting at the nets,” said the PBKS bowling coach.

“Shikhar Dhawan was injured on the ground, we miss his batting services. He is on the road to recovery. We saw him batting at the nets. Hopefully, he is in the recovery process and will be fit for the next game,” Joshi was quoted as saying by IndiaToday.

Additionally, Sunil Joshi discussed PBKS’s strategy for the remaining matches of the season. He expressed that while every team experiences victories and defeats, PBKS is solely concentrated on securing wins and advancing in the points table.

“It’s important to understand that any team will go through wins and losses. Our focus is to rise again. This is a short format of the game, where you might get hit for a six on the best ball or you get a wicket on a loose ball,” Joshi said.

“It depends on how you prepare your body for the day of the game and how mentally relaxed you are. Every time you face the stress of performing, your body may not fire. You have to calm down and play one ball at a time,” he added.
